hi Ige, i have the same problem as to what the title says except that the desktop loads at a time later but it still bugs me though. As I checked the location on the regedit, explorer.exe shell has no extensions in the filename as to what you're describing, and i cant find the location of the culprit on the direction you were giving.. your help would be of great help.. tnx and god bless

Hi,

I disconnected the power line when the screen frozen suspected of infecting with a virus after opening an attached file of an email. And when I boot up a minute later, my Window XP SP2 got black screen only after a few blinked of cursor.

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL will only show the following:
- Press to chance to Booth order
- Press to enter setup
- Press to boot from LAN

I did the following:

- Press trying to repair using XP CD but
no luck, it boot up still black screen

- Press got to the Pheonix BIOS Setup Utility and did not want to do anything here.

Any suggestion without reinstall from fresh would be much appreciated.

I suggest that you just save all your important files and re-install Windows if you have to. If you're PC comes with a restore disk you can use that as well.

I am not sure who wrote this but it was enormously helpful. If anyone has problems with black screen and/or viruses this is a great place to start in order to restore your system back to health without losing all your data. Many many thanks...there truly are many kind people out there.
