Convert Movies and Videos for Nokia 5800 under MAC OS

Let’s convert movies and videos for your Nokia 5800 under the MAC OS operating system.

There are various video converters which are compatible for Windows operating system but a few only for the MAC OS. Once you’ve found a video converter for the MAC OS, you’d find out that it’s not free. (If your looking to Convert Videos for Nokia 5800 under Windows with Super Video Convert click here)

With MPEG Streamclip Video Converter for MAC OS X, you get a free and fast video converter for the MAC OS. Although it does not support as many video formats as the Super Video Converter that we use for Windows, it is still easy to use, and still supports various video formats.

The Nokia 5800 in Batman – The Dark Knight Movie

According to its documentation, it can open various file formats such as MPEG, MPG, VOB, PS, M2P, MOD, VRO, DAT, DCM, VDR, PVR, TS, M2T, MTS, MMV, REC, VID, AUD, AVR, TP, TP0, TRP, TOD, M2V, M1V, MPV, AIFF, AIF, M1A, MP2, MPA, AC3; MOV, DV, AVI, MP4, and DIVX.

It also claims to be able to convert from AVI, but I have had problems converting it.

To be able to convert videos / movies for your Nokia 5800, just open the video file in the application. Once opened, just choose Export to Other Formats and then use these settings:

Format: MPEG-4
Limit Data Rate: Put a check and indicate 816kbps
Sound: Yes
Frame Size: Click Other and set to 640×360
Frame Rate: 25 fps

Other Settings:
(Leave all the other settings as is, but in case you’ve messed it up)
Field Dominance: Upper Field First
Deselect for progressive movies: Check on Interlaced Scaling and Reinterlace Chroma
Rotation: No
Zoom: 100%
X/Y: 1
Center: Both 0
Cropping: No Check

Important: Once you’ve set all of this, click Options which is on the top right corner beside Format (which we’ve set to MPEG-4). Follow these settings:

File Format: MP4
Video Format: MPEG-4 Basic
Data Rate: 816
Image Size: Custom then set w: 640 and h: 360
Frame Rate: Custom then set to 25 frames/sec
Key Frame: Every then set to 24 frames

Once you’ve made the correct settings, just click OK (twice if you came from the Options screen) and just wait for your file to be converted. There you have it! I hope I’ve helped you convert movies and videos for your Nokia 5800 under MAC OS.

    Hi there,

fantastic tutorial, thanks, but I have followed the above to the letter and have tried to convert about 3 or 4 movies now but each one has no sound when I play them. The picture is absolutely perfect but, alas, no audio at all. Any help would be great.

    Cheers

May I know what specific video files they were? That is really odd as I have converted about 5 videos already using this…

      • Scotty says:

Yeah, they were all .avi files I tried to convert. Does the converter allow .avi files to convert properly, ie with sound? I will try some other video files to see if I have some success. I also checked the audio options with the converter and can’t seem to find anything out of the ordinary so I thought it best not to tinker with the sound options – they are as they were when I first loaded it.

Anyway, will let you know how I get on with some other video files…

        • Scotty says:

FYI the audio settings as loaded are:

          Audio Format: AAC-LC (Music)
          Data Rate: 128 kbps
          Channels: Stereo
          Output Sample Rate: 44.100 kHz
          Encoding Quality: Better

Right, just converted a .mpg file and the audio was fine. I then tried another .avi file with the same settings and no audio. any ideas?

i have played with some settings, lo man !!! i have been hooked to the mobile phones’ multimedia capabilities.

all this was possible due to this site.,

A MILLION THANX, FOLKS WHOEVER HAS GIVEN THIS TIP !!!

  9. Ige says:

That’s really weird as I’ve just successfully converted an avi file. Maybe you could change the Audio format? Try converting small videos first so that conversion wouldn’t take as long. I’ll try to help as much as I can.

  10. Scotty says:

hi. Still no joy. I convertered the same small sized .avi video file several times with various audio formats but to no avail. Then, using toast 9 titanium I changed the same .avi file to .mpg and used your mpeg streamclip software with your suggested settings and convertered the file again (as .mpg) and the audio was fine.

I then decided to try something different and convert the original .avi file using toast 9 titanium but with your settings. The .avi file convertered without a hitch and the audio was great. This will suffice for me now so thanks for the settings. The only downside to this is that I would prefer to convert the files with your mpeg streamclip software as for some reason it condenses the files to a smaller size than it does with toast thus giving me more room on my memory card in the phone.

    Thanks for your help.
