Password Protect and Hide a Folder Containing Important Files

Here are three easy steps on how to password protect a folder containing important files located in your hard drive in a Windows operating system.

I’m sure most of us all have files which we don’t want anyone else to see. Our PC may have password protection during logon, but this usually isn’t enough as some (like in my case), have several users.

I’ve even tried hiding files and folders to no avail. The search function of Windows is too good that it can search hidden files and folders.

So how do we really secure our personal files?

Password Protect Your Wireless / Wi-Fi Router

Here’s a crude guide to help you put a password to your Wireless or Wi-Fi router to prevent unauthorized access to your Internet connection.

I have a wireless router at home so that everybody can use the internet wherever they are in the house. I can still remember when I still didn’t have one and my desktop PC was the only one who had access to the Internet. All of them used my PC whenever they needed to get something done using the Internet. It was really difficult as one of us had to put off his/her work for the other one.

Once I had a wireless or Wi-Fi router, everybody now can use the internet. My brothers, sister, parents, and neighbors…

Yes… even our neighbors.

If you setup your wireless router for the Internet to be accessed by the computers or laptops of your family members, it’s more than likely that you just thought of your family members. You could’ve overlooked the possibility that your neighbors could easily access your router and your Internet connection as well.

Why is it Important to Password Protect your Wireless or Wi-Fi router?

Why? Because as you are paying for your Internet connection, and if a few of your neighbors decide to surf the net as well, the bandwidth or speed of your Internet is split or slows down. You however, notice the significant decrease of speed of your Internet connection, and blame your service provider. And the story goes on…

Play Almost Any Video File in your PC: K-Lite Codec Pack

With the K-Lite Codec Pack, you can almost play any video file using only your Windows Media Player Classic.

With the several video file types existing today, it’s very hard to install just one player. What’s worse is multiple files with the same file type are sometimes encoded differently – which would then require different codecs for it to play in your media or video player.

I use the K-Lite Video Codec Pack in two of my Windows based machines and it hasn’t failed me since. It installs various codecs and uses by default the lightweight Windows application Media Player Classic in playing video files.

Top Pick for Free Antivirus of 2008: Avira AntiVir Personal Edition

The “Avira Antivir Personal Edition” is an antivirus software which offers one of the best protections for viruses and Trojans – all for free.

A standard computer’s main programs include an operating system or OS (Windows, Mac, or Linux), an Office suite (Microsoft Office or Open Office), an internet browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari), and an Antivirus software.

When it comes to choosing the first three main programs, it’s usually easy as we just use with what we are already comfortable with or used to. But when it comes to deciding which antivirus program to install in our computers, most of us don’t know what to really use.

Determining Fake Sony Ericsson Headsets (HPM-64, HPM-65, HPM-70, HPM-82 among others)

Yes it’s about fakes again, and yes it’s about another Sony product. Well Sony Ericsson anyway. What we’ll discuss is about how to know a fake Sony Ericsson headset and why to avoid it. Moreover, we’ll only tackle fake Walkman Series headsets which come in the following package designs.

Now the only Sony Ericsson Walkman headsets that I know which have packaging like the ones illustrated below are the HPM-64, HPM-65(Sport’s headset), HPM-70(bass headset), and HPM-82(superb bass with remote). I’m sure that there are a lot of other Walkman series phones which also arrive in the same packaging, but these are the models that I have seen to be faked.

How to Spot Fake Memory Sticks (Guide to Fake Memory Sticks)

I have always been a bang for the buck kind of guy. I naturally go for the cheapest thing but I usually don’t sacrifice quality. That’s why I usually shop at e-bay. It’s cheap even with the shipping costs, and as long as the seller has many feedbacks I don’t hesitate to buy.

But in reality you can’t just rely on the feedback system of e-bay when buying memory sticks. If your planning to buy a Memory Stick for your PSP or Sony Camera, then this is a must read. I’m really a fan of e-bay, and I usually get my stuff there, but you can never be too careful and you should never be too trusting.

This isn’t only a guide when you’re just buying at e-bay, but also on other stores – online or in an actual shop.
